SUR 280 and SUR 281 provide students with hands-on laboratories related to real-world projects using Total Station equipment. Currently our surveying program has two semi-working Total Stations. The instruments were manufactured in 2000 and are obviously dated. While the older instruments can still be used to teach theory, the OS and onboard software is limited and extremely dated. Students training on this equipment will not see these instruments in the field. The two proposed EDMs will allow up to 10 students (two groups of five) to use current technology seen on the job site today.
